On July 7, a local freshman student from Worthington Kilbourne High School, Canen Dickman, suffered cardiac arrest after collapsing during soccer conditioning. Coach Sprunger, men's head soccer coach immediately performed CPR as Coach Fagan, jva coach, ran into the building to get the AED machine that they used to shock him. Paramedics came and took over. He spent 10 days in Nationwide Childrens Hospital ICU. He has since been through many tests but no specific diagnosis. The family is taking steps to help ensure his safety such as a temporary Life Vest that he wears along with 2 medications to monitor his heart rate. There are more obstacles ahead but he is happy to be home and lucky to be alive.

If it weren't for the life saving efforts if the quick actions of his coaches he may not be here today. Canen continues to share his story in the hopes of helping to save the lives of others through CPR and AED awareness. The family will be forever grateful to the coaches for saving his life!
